Wind Energy By Josh Sanders, David Spellman, and Justin Snider

Facts About Wind Energy The U.S. has more than 40,000 commercial wind energy systems that are currently in 38 states. In 2010 U.S. wind industry grew by 15%. Wind Power represented 25% of all new U.S. electric generation capacity in 2010.

How Wind Energy Works Wind Power Animation

Advantages It is free Doesn’t use up natural resources Produces no emission, waste, or greenhouse gases Wind Farms can be a tourist attraction

Disadvantages Wind is not predictable Locations are limited Needs at least 25k/h speed It can effect T.V. reception, kill birds, and it can be noisy Some people think windmills and turbines look bad

Wind Energy is good for the environment because it helps plants grow, it keeps things moist for water, and it doesn’t cause pollution.

Wind Energy is renewable because it is from nature, wind keeps blowing, and it makes sense to use it.

Wind Energy would be possible to use in Pittsburgh because you could put the wind farms where wind is readily available or on mountain tops.

Wind Energy will be plentiful in the future because it will not run out because it is just harnessing the wind.
