Unit 3- International Conflicts

Thu./Fri.., May Checked in homework assignment: Cause/Effects of the Great Depression reading assignment and visual; shared visuals in table groups and as class, & discussed Short PPT on the GQ: How did fear of communism + disappointment with capitalism = rise of fascism in Europe? Reviewed Venn Diagrams from Mon/Tue (on ‘30’s nationalist ideologies) Introduced how to write a directly comparative thesis; showed example and practiced on the prompt given in the PPT (in notebook) Began studying WW2 by having table groups circulate six folders on the war, sharing items in folders (on website), considering questions on handout (behind this), and taking general notes. Will complete activity on Tuesday.

Thu., Apr. 23 Shared Introductory Paragraphs from yesterday (did homework check for 3 pts. in gradebook, so show me yours if you were absent) Went over “Each of the 3 body paragraphs” section of the Essay Structure handed out yesterday Each person was assigned a sets of documents supporting either Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism or Nationalism as a cause of WWI. “Expert groups” were given same documents so they could help each other analyze them. HOMEWORK: Use your document set (if absent and were not pre-assigned, ask me) to write an example 3 rd body paragraph saying why that cause was the most important.
