Sooo…what does it mean to be accredited? You are identified as: A school that values continued school improvement as a priority A school that believes in itself A school that values self assessment A school that is willing to be scrutinized A school that has been judged as meeting standards for good schooling Your School

What Are Your Responsibilities As An Accredited School? Continue to strive to meet and exceed Standards Use the standards to measure school improvement Use the self study and team report as strategic planning documents Review and update your Mission and Expectations to ensure it reflects the purpose of the school Monitor and be involved in the activities of the Commission and Association File appropriate reports Show off!

What Are Our Responsibilities As a member of the NEASC? Incorporate and implement the Standards for Accreditation in the life of the school Routine reports –two year planning document –special progress reports –five year report –new reports generated by old reports –annual report Provide staff to serve on visiting teams Recruit new candidates for accreditation Volunteer for committees and programs Network and keep in touch

So, Now what Do We Do? Re-establish a steering committee to review the visiting committee report and prioritize the visiting committee recommendations Develop a five year action plan and timeline Develop strategies, adopt them, adapt them, and assess the results Keep track of everything

Why Accreditation? “There is no power greater than a community discovering what it cares about. Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters. Our goal is to ask: ‘What’s possible?’ not ‘What’s wrong?’”. -Margaret Wheatley Continue the Conversation
