6 Our Tasks….. Develop and revise TSD Mission, Vision, and Goals Coordinate MDE and AdvancEd required Continuous Improvement activities Implement Internal Review Process Communicate continuous improvement activities and expectations to schools and community Provide professional development activities and support for buildings as they work toward completing continuous improvement activities Work to increase non staff stakeholder involvement Conduct district surveys

7 District Accreditation

8 What is District Accreditation? Improved focus and alignment of district resources: curriculum, assessment, staff development Less duplication of effort Improved communication within and between levels Less burden on schools for NCA paperwork and visitations External review of district every five years All district systems and their role in student success

9 System of Schools With a coordinated continuous improvement process which strives to meet shared goals. That recognizes the uniqueness of each school. That strives toward comprehensive and systemic reform efforts. That is willing to monitor the NCA Protocol and Performance Accreditation Process internally. A district or system is defined as an entity of schools:

11 The Five Standards Purpose and Direction Governance and Leadership Teaching and Assessing for Learning Resources and Support Systems Using Results for Continuous Improvement

12 New Standards Embedded throughout the Standards are some common themes: Continuous improvement Stakeholder involvement Student engagement Collaboration Equity Personalization

13 New Standards The new Standards require increased rigor including, for example, demonstrated growth in student learning and achievement; a commitment to developing learning, thinking and life skills for all students; and formal structures whereby each student is well known.

14 External Review

15 The district and each school will engage in the accreditation process by submitting an Accreditation Comprehensive Report next year. The report will include the following: Self Assessment – Schools will assess their performance level with regard to the AdvancED Standards for Quality. Executive Summary – a narrative for the schools to “tell their story.” Stakeholder Perception Surveys - parent, student, and staff surveys will be administered to gather valid and reliable stakeholder perception data. Profile (demographic update) – contact information and demographics about the school. AdvancED Accreditation Assurances – a set of certification statements related to the policies and procedures of AdvancED accreditation. Improvement Plan - Goals, measurable objectives, strategies, and activities packaged into a plan for improvement. Student Performance Results - results of the multiple assessments that schools use to measure growth and improvement in student performance

16 What are our plans for this year? 2012-2013

17 Continuous Improvement Timeline - 2012-2013 SEPTEMBER 9/24 and 9/28 - Roll Out Meetings: Each school will be given 3 substitutes. Members of the District Continuous Improvement Team will meet representatives from the schools to outline the Continuous Improvement activities and expectations for the 2012-2013 school year. NOVEMBER 11/11-11/20 - Parent, staff, student survey conducted JANUARY 1/8 and 1/9 - Work days for completing Survey section of Building Profile for External Review FEBRUARY 2/26 AND 2/28 - Work days for completing Survey section of the Self Assessment MARCH 3/12 and 3/13 - Work days for completing Assessment section of Building Profile for External Review 3/22 - District will submit the External Review paperwork to AdvancEd APRIL 4/9 - Internal Review Training (after school): 4/21 to 4/24 - External Review 4/29 to 5/11 - Internal Review Visits – Only for those schools not visited during the External Review MAY 5/16 Student Learning Showcase 12:30 - 3:00: JUNE 6/7 Buildings submit Internal Review Reflection:
