A European electronic toll service should provide interoperability at technical, contractual and procedural level, covering: (a) a single contract between the clients and the operators offering the service, complying with a contractual set of rules allowing all operators and/or issuers to provide the service, giving access to the whole network; (b) a set of technical standards and requirements allowing the industry to provide the necessary equipment for the provision of the service.
