Presentation transcript:

Summary of Day 1 President The emphasis on performance comes from the growing reality of corporatized air navigation services and the pressure for greater accountability. The aviation community must respond accordingly when designing, planning, implementing and operating the global air navigation system.

Summary of Day 1 Mr. Aguado It is indeed important today that all regions gradually reach equivalent levels in performance management This symposium may usher in a new era in air navigation, a golden age of ever increasing performance in the world-wide air navigation system The goal could be a a global performance based system.

Summary of Day 1 Ms. Cox And I want to underscore that because improved performance reduces fuel emissions, theres an environmental benefit. But let me stress that global harmonization is critical if we are to establish a global performance-based air traffic management system. Disparate systems wont benefit our users … not in the global economy. We need a seamless system, and that means working together to standardize the definitions and requirements, and developing a consistent way to measure performance.

Summary of Day 1 High level introductions to set the framework Review of the air navigation system Transition to a global air navigation system Global Air Navigation Plan Global Aviation Safety Plan

Summary of Day 1 Operational performance Setting Performance objectives Performance based transition Meeting expectations Economic and Management Performance Productivity measures and governance User charges and liability Systems performance Communications, navigation, surveillance Safety performance Measuring safety Data collection and analysis Acceptable levels of safety

Performance is a wide subject Lets continue the discussion
