Cultural cooperation in Denmark The Metropol Cooperation ”Culture to the whole country” – 4 year contracts a 50/50 financed co operation between the state and the municipalities (and some Regions) 14 contracts/cooperations The Metropol Cooperation 26 municipalities 1 region Ministry of Culture 1,2 mio ,2 mio. € 6

4. The Metropol Cooperation Economy –1.25m € from the municipalities –0.8m € from the region, and –1.25m € from the Ministry of Culture. The Metropol Cooperation The Vision To benifit from the geografically and social density of the region, the cultural diversity and creative resources across municipal boundaries and across the Øresund (the sea between Sealandia and Sweden) so that the area within ten years will change form a network of cities to a cultural metropol which is coherent. A cultural metropol in which culture is playing a significant role as a social, innovative and economic value creator. 8

4. The Metropol Cooperation The Goals To create a cultural region which – at the same time - is coherent and has a great external impact. To create deeply embedded cultural offers and cultural events which attract cultural consumers/users across the region and from the rest of Europe. To develop strong social, creative and innovative competences at the children and youngsters in the region. That the region is characterised by cultural entrepreneurship and commitment. 9
