Presentation transcript:

The bottle is made out of plastic. Plastic almost always is made out of oil. They have to drill in the ground to get the oil. The oil is manufactured until it turns into plastic. It will usually last just about 1 year if you don’t really re-use it.

The company is a major purchaser of Florida oranges for its orange juice, and also imports orange juice from Brazil. Florida oranges come from trees.

To make the Florida oranges into orange juice, you have to put them into a processing machine that squeezes the orange juice and pulp out of the oranges, leaving the skin behind.

To make the orange juice drinkable, they have to put a few additives that are edible into it so the orange juice will last, and not go bad.

To package the orange juice, they have to manufacture cardboard boxes so it is possible to ship the juice to various places. This creates a lot of energy consumption, and some waste that is unnecessary to let into the earth.

We live in Michigan, and the company Simply Orange is in Florida. So if a delivery truck were to drive from Florida to Michigan, it would be miles. Driving miles creates an unbelievable amount of CO2 emissions, greenhouse gases, and energy consumption.

This product does not generate waste unless you do not recycle it, and you just throw it away.

This product can be re-used just about once, and this product can also be recycled depending where you go to recycle it. This does consume energy thought because you have to transport yourself to a store that will accept you to recycle that product.

When you throw this product away, it does go to a landfill. This creates greenhouse gases for the product to be transported to the landfill. This does consume energy.
