(3) Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell (cp. Num. 25:1-9)10:8 Israel…and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

(4) Presumption: Neither let us tempt Christ (put Christ to the test), as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. (Cp. Num. 21:5ff)10:9 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"

 The Table of Divine Fellowship:10:16, 17  The Table of the Demons’ Fellowship.10:18-22  The Relationship: Jewish Priests Partook of the altar sacrifices offered to God.10:18  The Reality: Idols were nothing, but Idolators sacrificed to demons! (cf. Deut. 32:16, 17, 21)  The Reasoning: Believers cannot take part at the Lord’s Table & the Table of demons. 10:21  We should not Rouse or Provoke the Lord to jealousy – He is Powerful. 10:22

(18-22)  The Table of Fellowship with unbelievers: 10:23-33  The Principles:10:23, 24  Of Personal Liberty: all things are Lawful.  Of Personal Love: all things are not Expedient or Edifying:10:23 The Priority: Consider the good (Edification) of others. 10:24, NIV

 The Principles:10:23, 24  The Practice – Permitted to Eat…10:25-31  Meat sold at the Market, ask no questions. (25)  The Master’s Meat, the earth is the Lord’s.(26)  At a Meal, ask no questions. 10:27 Cf. Eat, for you have given thanks.10:30 The Christian’s Conduct for Conscience Sake: Eat not, if told food has been offered to idols(28) Deny Self for the other’s Conscience sake.
