Examples Instruction from other’s mistakes.

Perseverance & Encouragement Romans 15:4 (NASB77) 4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Examples & Instruction 1 Corinthians 10:11 (NASB77) 11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Craving Evil Things 1 Corinthians 10:5-6 (NASB77) 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. 6 Now these things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things, as they also craved.

Greed Of Dissatisfaction Numbers 11:4-6 (NASB77) 4 And the rabble who were among them had greedy desires; and also the sons of Israel wept again and said, " Who will give us meat to eat? 5 " We remember the fish which we used to eat free in Egypt, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, 6 but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna."

Idolatry 1 Corinthians 10:7 (NASB77) 7 And do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, " THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY."

Serving Two Masters Exodus 32:4-6 (NASB77) 4 And he took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it into a molten calf; and they said, " This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt." 5 Now when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow shall be a feast to the LORD." 6 So the next day they rose early and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Acting Immorally 1 Corinthians 10:8 (NASB77) 8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.

No Longer Separate Numbers 25:1-3 (NASB77) 1 While Israel remained at Shittim, the people began to play the harlot with the daughters of Moab. 2 For they invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel joined themselves to Baal of Peor, and the LORD was angry against Israel.

Testing God 1 Corinthians 10:9 (NASB77) 9 Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents.

Speaking Against God’s Promise Numbers 21:5-7 (NASB77) 5 And the people spoke against God and Moses, " Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this miserable food." 6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died.

Grumblers 1 Corinthians 10:10 (NASB77) 10 Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

Speaking Against Godly Leaders Numbers 16:41-42 (NASB77) 41 But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, "You are the ones who have caused the death of the LORD'S people." 42 It came about, however, when the congregation had assembled against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tent of meeting, and behold, the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.

Gideon – Mighty Warrior Judges 6:11-12 (NASB77) 11 Then the angel of the LORD came and sat under the oak that was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite as his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press in order to save it from the Midianites. 12 And the angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, "The LORD is with you, O valiant warrior."

This Your Strength Judges 6:13-14 (NASB77) 13 Then Gideon said to him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, 'Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian." 14 And the LORD looked at him and said, " Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?"

Right In Their Own Sight Judges 17:6 (NASB77) 6 In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. Judges 21:25 (NASB77) 25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
