The World on a Shoestring by: Louise Feldman PPT by Amelia Hastings For CECS Fall 2010 Semester Back to Index Page

How I found and why I selected this article I searched ERIC via EBSCOhost on UNT’s Electronic Resource service for various topics related to vacations/travel (since this is the topic of my web project). The search told me that a hard copy of the journal was at the physical UNT Library, however I simply read it via the HTML link my ERIC search provided. This article overlaps my project more than any other article I found on the subject. I did find other resources, however, that could be helpful towards this or for other projects in the future. This article contains… Explanations of budget traveling Types of budget travel locations Suggestions for travel resources to be held in libraries Bibliographically listed resources for travelers no matter the budget (small or big) with prices of items when necessary ▫Basic budgets ▫Main guidebook series, travel books, and magazines ▫Travel websites ▫Videos Back to Index Page

Summary of Article This article gives the author’s perspective of why more people are traveling on a budget now and how that effects travel choices. This article also provides in-depth, bibliographic lists of resources budget travelers can use when planning their vacations. Back to Index Page

My Reactions This article is very useful for anyone traveling on a budget. It provides a lot of detail for cheap and free resources to be used while planning and taking trips within the country or around the world. The only thing that might be a bit changed since this article was published in 2008 would be the prices the author provides for the various travel books and videos. However, even these changes would be slight since there has not been that much change in the value of the dollar between now (November 2010) and when this was written in March of I intend to put it on my web project because it relates to many of the travels I myself took over the past 8 years. Most of the vacations I have had were on budgets and I enjoy any author who can provide even better deals or ideas for me. Back to Index Page
