Theatre Jobs Who is in charge of what?

Producer Finds the money for a show to be produced Hires the director and sometimes technicians Pays all bills Money!

director Responsible for the show’s overall success Creates show’s unique vision Guides actors and technicians to create the vision Final approval

Stage manager In complete charge backstage during performances Responsible for keeping a prompt book In charge backstage during a rehearsal Calls cues to technicians during show

Technical director Takes care of communication between the director and designers Makes sure the designs of the artists are done right Helps build/create

Costume designer Designs all costumes (shape, fabric, etc.) Oversees the making of costumes Keeps up costumes during run Deals with storing/returning/repurposing after a show

Set designer Designs scenery for a show Helps crew to create set Deals with paint, building, etc. Communication is key

Prop master Makes sure that props used in a show are made or collected properly Creates prop plots Keeps props in working order
