World Meteorological Organization Working together in weather, climate and water Proof of concept: Demonstration of the new tools in regional settings WMO Open Panel of CCl Experts – 4 OPACE - 4 WMO Rodney Martínez Co-Chair OPACE IV

Some previous considerations: 1.Identify a region where different sector specific climate indices could be tested (agriculture, health, DRR, etc). 2.To have some previous work on using climate indices. 3.Possibilities of regional coordination and follow up.

A possible way forward: A collection and analysis of existing sector-specific climate indices is agreed by the ET in this meeting. Methods and tools, standardized software and associated training materials is prepared in close coordination with RCC and NMHSs from the region Pilot training workshop is organized during the second half of 2012, and a format for this workshop is discussed and adjusted previously with ET. Some of the deliverables of this workshop would be: -An Implementation Plan agreed by NMHSs for period. -A validated format for the CRSCI workshops to be run in other regions -Validated training material including a Technical Manual.
