Theme of the novel By: Ryan Renner

The Theme of the Novel I think the theme of the novel for The Boy in the Striped Pajamas I think is curiosity killed the cat. I think it was curiosity killed the, because Bruno was so curious of what was behind the fence. Later in the book it gets him killed.

Example One One example of how curiosity killed is the theme of the novel is on page 103 (only paragraph on the page) says that that he was not allowed to go in the direction of the fence. What it says is “the one thing Bruno tried not to think about was that he had been told countless occasions by both Mother and Father that he was not allowed to walk in this direction, that he was not allowed anywhere near the fence or camp, and most particularly that exploration was banned at Out- With (Auschwitz). With No Exceptions.

Example Two Another example of how the theme curiosity killed the cat is the theme of the novel is on page Bruno walks in to Gretel's room and asks her about who the people were crossed the fence. She said some pretty mean words to describe them. The words she said were “Jew”, “their own kind”, and when asks if they are Jews she says “don’t say something like that”, “they can’t mix with us”, “We don’t like them”, and finally “we don’t like them because they’re Jews.

Final Example The final example of how curiosity killed the cat is the theme of the novel a sad example. From the beginning of chapter Bruno goes on his final exploration. What happens is first he was curious of what was on the other side of the fence, he wanted to help find Schmuel’s papa, and he wanted to play with Schmuel before he had to go back to Berlin. What happens in those 2 chapters is Bruno dresses up like a Jew and dig under the fence and go inside the fence. What happens over there is he gets gathered up with a bunch of Jews and the group on a long march. Where they went was a gas chamber and he was killed.
