3 Policy on Green Procurement - Overview The new “Policy on Green Procurement came into effect on April 1, Objective: –To advance the protection of the environment and support sustainable development by integrating environmental performance considerations into the procurement decision-making process. Context: –Achievement of value for money through the application of life cycle costing to the procurement process. The Policy on Green Procurement introduces environmental performance as a key consideration in the same way as cost, performance, quality and availability.
