Curriculum- Math 8 Common Core - Algebra- High School Credit - Preparing for the NYS Math Assessment and the NYS Regents Curriculum- Algebra 1 -Pre-Algebra -Preparing for the NYS Math Assessment -Pre-Algebra -Preparing for the NYS Math Assessment

Social Studies Curriculum  US/NYS history from Civil War to present.  Despite the State’s decision to drop the NYS Assessment, students will continue to focus on the skills that have traditionally been deemed important.  This will include analyzing historical documents and writing document based essays (DBQ’s).

ELA Curriculum  Exploration of Literature & Literary Elements  Literary Analysis  Expository Writing  Poetry  Vocabulary  NYS Assessment preparation

Science 8 Curriculum  Homework is on the chalk board and verbally administered to the students.  Topics covered: Chemistry, Electricity/Magnetism, Solar System, Weather/Climate, and Earth Science.  We will be preparing for a two part NYS Science Assessment (written and lab practicum) throughout the year.

Living Environment Curriculum  Homework is posted daily on the board and given verbally.  Topics Covered: What is Science, Cells, Reproduction/Development, Human Physiology, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Human Impact.  There is a Living Environment Regents Exam in June, where a component is from NYS Labs completed in Lab Class (Part D). Along with 8 th Grade Science Assessment.
