EUREGIO III Findings & implications: Stakeholders needs and priorities - Experiences of an European Online Survey Margit OHR Health ClusterNET Brussels 3 February 2011

Content of the presentation 1. Aims & objectives of WP6 2. Overview of main activities by Semesters 3. Challenges 4. Implications 5. Action Plan Expectations

Aims & objectives of WP6 Conduct a scoping and screening exercise of existing information and expertise in relation to heath-related SF investments Building up the first Inventory and revise and complement up to date Finding out more about the stakeholders needs and priorities for competency development (Online Survey & CB audit) Identifying recommendations for capacity building, improving the SF process and possible co- operation mechanism among the stakeholders

Overview of main activities by semesters Scoping & Screening Exercise First Inventory & Review the Learning Online survey & analysis Recommendations We are here knowledge Semesters Semesters Capacity Building Audit

After focusing mainly on direct health investments (infrastructure development) we have to bring HIA into play in health-related SF investments We need to combine cost-reduced policies with investment policies to change the model of providing health services (using the credit crisis as a drive) Being a partner in relevant other projects (for example FP7, Interreg) that help develop ideas, knowledge and experiences for project implementation Challenges - Results 1

Not every stakeholder has a clear idea about his or her own needs regarding applying or managing health-related SF projects in the health sector Would be good to have a partner search facility for health programmes to find other EU partners Challenges - Results 2

Holistic Capacity Building is needed towards intersectoral co- ordination and collaborative working Further research is needed about the determinants of health and its impact on inequality Alternative funding resources like EU SF plays a more important role after the economic crises - knowledge about these funding resources and the possibility to apply for them has to be further increased (Master class and workshop experiences) Further assessment of the situation on the needs of stakeholders has to clarify the issues and priorities, because the lack of information hinders a full understanding of the real need of the stakeholders Implications 1

During Capacity building audit we will further research and analyze the main findings Feedback about the findings/results of the online survey Exploring opportunities and barriers to the use of HIA and Integrated Impact Assessment in relation to health-related SF projects, programmes Spain (European HIA Conference, April 2011) Action Plan 2011
