Beattie Report (1999) The Committee believes that there are 2 main issues to be addressed: how to ensure that young people acquire the skills and attributes which will maximise their chances of gaining and maintaining employment; and how to ease the transition into employment for young people who face particular barriers arising from disability or social or educational disadvantage Extract: Beattie Report 1999, Chapter 13.2

Strands Of Employability Assets: these are the knowledge, skills and attitudes which a person has. Deployment: the ability and capability to use assets to gain and keep employment. Work 4 U Programme Assets: Employers Expectations, Personal Skills & Qualities Deployment: Job Search and Careers Match, Health & Safety Presentation: Self Awareness,Interview Skills, Application Forms, CVs Context: Work Placement, Work Ethic

Transition Support Ongoing Transition Support through regular “16+ Learning Choices” meetings. Individual student Action Plans completed at end of W4U Programme. Keyworker transition support relating to Activity Agreements. Six monthly follow ups for all W4U participants.
