Mental Retardation Mental retardation is signified by significantly subaverage functioning (below 70) and concurrent deficits in adaptive functioning which occurs before age 18. –Severity Levels Mild Mental Retardation (50-55 to 70) Moderate Mental Retardation (35-40 to 50-55) Severe Mental Retardation (20-25 to ) Profound Mental Retardation (below 20 or 25)

Motor Skills Disorder Developmental Coordination Disorder –Motor coordination substantially below that expected given the person’s chronological age and measured intelligence. –Disturbance interferes with academic achievement or activities of daily living. –Not due to general medical condition –If MR present, motor difficulties are below expected
