Welcome to Social Studies Class! With Mrs. Cala Rm 310

What does the word Social Studies mean? O various aspects or branches of the study of human society, considered as an educational discipline.

What does the word History mean? O the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. Or O the whole series of past events connected with someone or something.

What do you think you are going to learn about this year? History? or Social Studies?

What’s the point? O You have your first grade of the year!

Why do people end up in textbooks ?

How does someone decide what goes in a textbook?

Textbook Page Assignment O You will be making a page in a textbook O Choose an event that happened to you over the summer O It can be something you were scared of O It can be something you never did before O It can be something you were really excited/proud about

Requirements: O There must be proof of the event O Pictures, tickets,agendas O There must be at least one witness to the event O There must be a paragraph write up about the event O Items to include in write up O The date and location of the event. O What kind of event was it? O How long did the event last? O A description of the event. O People in attendance at the event (your witnesses). O The outcome of the event.
