Outline: What is your learning style preference? How does your learning style affect how you learn? Time Management Tips/Overcoming Procrastination. Learning Styles & Learning Skills

What is your learning style preference? Four learning styles: visual, auditory, reading/writing, kinesthetic Complete the VARK Questionnaire as an assessment Help sheets for learning strategies corresponding to each learning style preference How does your learning preference affect how you learn math? Getting the most out of lectures Doing homework & practice problems Obtaining help when needed Learning Styles & Learning Skills

Learning Styles VISUAL: Learning Strategies: Draw diagrams, charts, pictures etc. Use colour and tabs to highlight important content Study in a quiet area to avoid distractions AUDITORY: Learning Strategies: Tape record notes Discuss concepts to others and have them explain them to you Create musical jingles to aid in memorization READING/WRITING: Learning Strategies: Write out words again and again Organize information by diagrams/graphs Read your notes out loud KINESTHETIC: Learning Strategies: Memorize/explain terms while walking Use bright colours to highlight key terms Frequent breaks while studying Preference to hands on learning
