 Location  Kenya is in East Africa, just below and to the left of the Horn of Africa, the part that sticks out like a rhino’s horn.  Kenya is about the size of our state of Texas.  Along the coast are beautiful beaches. Mountains rise in the west.  Near the ocean it’s hot and humid. It’s cooler in the mountains.

Capital City: Nairobi (2.9 million) Population: 38 million Main Languages: English and Swahili (both official), more than 40 tribal languages Main People Groups: Black Africa (99%), Europeans, Asians, Arabs Religions: Christian (80% in both Protestant and Roman Catholic churches), Muslim (10%), animist (9%)

The Land: The land in the south is good for growing food. In the northern desert, people move their animals from one place to another to find food. Weather: Near the ocean, the weather is hot and humid. The mountain highlands are cooler. The north is hot and dry. The southern part has two rainy seasons a year.
