2 Costa Rica is in Central America, just north of the isthmus of Panama. Costa Rica is a bit smaller than our state of West Virginia. Costa Rica borders the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Caribbean Sea on the east. Costa Rica has three mountain ranges and several active volcanoes. Costa Ricas name means rich coast.
