Program Affiliation Approved at the 82 nd State FFA Convention New Jersey FFA Association

Proposal  The delegates at the 82 nd State FFA Convention approved the following: –Require Basic Affiliation fee structure for all chapters and offer the Blue and Gold Supplemental Packages as an option for interested chapters. Middle School chapters will choose whether or not they will affiliate.

What is Program Affiliation? Allows ALL students who are enrolled in an Agricultural Education Program to be eligible for the benefits and opportunities of FFA

What is Program Affiliation? Program Affiliation eliminates dues per student. Instead, the Ag Education program is affiliating with the State FFA Association.

Philosophy of Program Affiliation  Involvement in FFA is an integral part of an Agricultural Education Program.  Participating in Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) activities helps students develop additional employability skills.  Students understand the role and importance of “professional associations” in America’s workforce.

Philosophy of Program Affiliation  Students receiving education through a complete three- component Agricultural Education Program will not only enjoy a well-rounded educational experience that leads to higher career satisfaction rates but will also experience significantly decreased drop-out rates and overall higher grade point averages.  Students and teachers will have access to leadership and skill development experiences that emphasize the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, especially the 21st Century Life and Careers Skills through FFA activities and participation.

How does it work?  For a flat fee a single Agricultural Education program can join the NJ FFA Association under an agreement and fee based on the previous year’s student enrollment (must correlate to VEDS/NJ SMART data).

Benefits of Affiliating  Eliminate dues collection. One (school/program) fee covers all students in the Agricultural Education program. Please note that affiliation on the chapter level is designed to eliminate individual dues. As a part of this program, local dues may not be collected. Other fees may be collected by the school under curriculum or activity fees in accordance with local or state policy.  Receive FFA Resources. Teachers will receive teaching aids designed to help reinforce FFA in the classroom.  Participate in quality training. New Jersey FFA offers premier training for chapter leaders which can be brought back to and utilized in each local program.

Benefits of Affiliating  Pay Program (institutional/school) Affiliation Fee with Perkins. Ag Education programs that receive Perkins funding can pay Affiliation Fees with the funds.  Eliminate Multiple Payments Throughout the Year. Programs that add the supplemental packages, eliminate making multiple payments for events/activities throughout the year. Pay up front and you’re set for the rest of the school year (except for overnight conferences/conventions).  Ease of Knowing Membership Status. Eliminate questionable membership status of students. All ag education students are members! All are eligible for award and scholarship opportunities.

Program Affiliation Options  Basic Affiliation  Blue Supplemental  Gold Supplemental

Basic Affiliation  All chapters are required to participate in Basic Affiliation.  At this level of affiliation, each FFA chapter will receive the following curriculum and services: One free registration to the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (“COLT”) division of Leadership Experience and Development (LEAD) New Horizons magazine subscription for each student (delivered to their home) 20 Official FFA Manuals 5 Official FFA Handbooks (on a rotation with other FFA related materials in subsequent years) Chapter visits from State Officers, including keynote speakers for banquets and other chapter events
