Printing Braille with Ink Uses and benefits at home and school Presented by: Jeff Gardner CEO, IRIE-AT Patrick Nunnelly President, American Thermoform Corporation

Learning Goals o Learn to create universally-readable documents that include braille and ink text on the same page o Discover the advantages of using combination ink/braille documents in classroom and work environments o See new hardware technology (ATC Braille & Print) to make ink/braille printing faster and more affordable, as well as learn about expanded functionality within Duxbury DBT that permits ink/braille output.

B&P (ink/braille) benefits in classroom o Printouts are adaptable for both low-vision people and braille-readers Good for publicly-distributed docs and the workplace o Documents can be shared with sighted peers and instructors Helps teachers who don't read braille Improves communication with sighted friends and at home

Braille & Print Overview o Utilizes HP InkJet technology o Leverages the new INDEX V4 technology o Fast 50 cps, single-sided, embossing o Cut-sheet – even does large-format o Small desktop size o Lowest price for ink/braille combo embosser ($5995)

Creating documents Use a variety of braille translation software options: o Duxbury DBT o Braille 2000 o RTFC o More options coming…
