Vincent van Gogh He was born on March, 30 th, 1853 in Zundert, Holland. At the age of 37, on July 29 th, 1890 he had died a mysterious death in Auvers-sur-oise in France. He was part of the Post Impressionist movement and known for his bright colours and rough beauty. I have chosen the following paintings as examples of his artwork.

Vase with 15 Sunflowers It was painted in The painting was sold in 1987 for $39,921,750 to Yasuo Goto from Japan. I don’t like this painting because it is basic and there are not many colours.

Irises This was painted in It was sold at Sotheby’s for $3.9 million to Alan Bond. I like this painting because it is calming and relaxing.

Pablo Picasso He was born in Malaga in 1881, he was one of the most influential artists of the 20 th century and creator of Cubism. He died April 8th 1973 in France. He had a “Blue period” when his paintings were dark and moody. After this he painted in a abstract style called Cubism. This is like a puzzle pieces in the wrong places

Boy with a Pipe This was painted in 1905 This was one of his paintings from his “rose period”. It was sold for $104 million at Sotheby’s in I don’t like this painting it is random there is a smoking pipe and some flowers.

The Weeping Woman This was painted in 1937 It is in the Tate Gallery in Liverpool I like this painting it has lots of colours and it looks modern

Georges Seurat He He was born on the 2nd of December 1859 in Paris, and died aged 32 on the 29th March He was a Post-Impressionist, Neo- Impressionist and a Pointillist. Pointillism uses dots of colour used in patterns to make an image.

Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte This painting took a massive TWO YEARS to paint!. It was 3 metres wide and was finished in It can be found in the Art Institute of Chicago. I like this painting, it is distinctive and you can see lots of things going on in it.

Bathers at Asnieres This was painted in 1884 it is in the National Gallery in London. I like this painting it makes me feel warm there are blue skies and people are sunbathing.

Leonardo da Vinci This is Leonardo’s signature. He was born in April in Florence and died in May 2 nd 1519 aged 67. He was an absolute genius because he invented a tank, helicopter and calculator.

The Mona Lisa The Mona Lisa was painted in and is held in the gallery of Lourve, Paris, France. The painting is well- known for its elusive smile. I like this painting because it is well known.

The Last Supper This painting was made in and is held in Santa Marie delle Gracie. It is a mural and and shows Jesus having his last supper with his disciples. I don’t like this painting because it is dull.
