Presentation transcript:

European Topic Centre on Biological Diversityhttp://bd.eionet.europa.eu/ Where are we today? EUNIS is in use across Europe No revision for several years Regular requests for changes No clear structure for considering future changes Need for a mechanism to review & revise both the classification & proposed changes

European Topic Centre on Biological Diversityhttp://bd.eionet.europa.eu/ Need for a structure or body to take responsibility for the EUNIS Habitats Classification recognised for a long time

European Topic Centre on Biological Diversityhttp://bd.eionet.europa.eu/ Some ideas for discussion Clear some agreed mechanism is required to agree changes, options include Formal or informal? A committee with chair, secretariat etc (large, small ?) A journal approach (editor(s) & reviewers) Where is improvement most needed? Should there be an agreed format for proposing new habitat classes or revisions ?
