Timing of the Change from NAIA to NCAA Division II Official application to NCAA was made on June 1, 2010 and we were accepted into candidacy on July 12, Leaving the NAIA American Midwest Conference after year. Admitted to the NCAA Great Lakes Valley Conference on October 6, This will involve all sports except Men’s Bowling and Ice Hockey. Impact of the Change on McKendree University: Compliance Committee The role of this committee is to evaluate and help assure compliance with NCAA Division II procedures, rules, and regulations. Impact of the Change on McKendree Students: Student-Athlete Advisory Committee The role of this committee is to represent student-athletes in the governance and oversight of the athletics program. The committee has a representative from each intercollegiate sports teams (men’s and women’s teams are represented). NCAA Life in the Balance Initiative The purpose of the Life in the Balance initiative is to help student-athletes establish a balance among the athletic, educational and social parts of their lives. Life in the Balance encourages and enables student- athletes to participate in campus and community life. Life in the Balance is implemented through NCAA Regulations, by the role of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and with participation in community service and other activities. 1/4/2011Teaching for Excellence11

Impact of the Change on McKendree University: NCAA Compliance NCAA rules and regulations are currently being implemented. For example in a manner specific for sports the following are carefully controlled as part of Life in the Balance: Practice times, Squad size, Number of games or matches, Number and nature of out-of-season competitions, Use of banned drugs and stimulants, Grades and eligibility, and Community service. NCAA ensures compliance using self-reporting and onsite testing, auditing, and inspections. Coaches and the Compliance Committee are current in training. 1/4/2011Teaching for Excellence12

Summary McKendree University is changing to the NCAA as part of a progressive association with high-quality institutions. The change will require additional compliance to follow the rigorous standards of the NCAA. The Life in the Balance initiative is to facilitate balance in the lives of student-athletes. Schedules and conference changes required by this change will necessitate the development of new rivalries and competitors. Budgets, scholarships and financial aid packages are being adapted to NCAA requirements. Academic standards for entering students and for student success will be higher and will encourage a higher quality student body. 1/4/2011Teaching for Excellence14
