General Information  Groundskeeping is an important part of the entire campus appearance  ySQ7YDjRA ySQ7YDjRA

Proper Clothing  Long sleeve shirt  Long pants  Steal toe boots  Work gloves  Be prepared to deal with varying weather conditions

Heat Stress and Sun Burn  Always have a water bottle with you  Drink water throughout the day  Immediately contact your supervisor if you:  Have a headache, dizziness, or feel faint  Feel weak, confused, or nauseous  Stop sweating in high temperatures  Always wear sunscreen

Personal Protective Equipment  Make sure to always wear proper clothing  Safety glasses will be provided and should be worn any time you are operating equipment or are around equipment being used  Hearing protection will be provided and should be used whenever gas powered equipment is in operation and removed when equipment is not in use

Proper Transport  Only ride on equipment sitting properly in a seat  Never ride in the bed of the one ton or gator  Always secure all equipment in the bed of the one ton or gator before heading to the next work location  Keep your speed appropriate for where you are, campus speed limit is 20 mph

Gator  This is not a toy, this vehicle is very important for our job and is very expensive  Do not drive aggressively, spinning out to turn etc.  Do not try to turn and dump a passenger out…  Always secure equipment in the bed before moving to the next work area  Take good care of the gator, this job would be very difficult without it

Trimmers  Always wear safety glasses, face mask, and hearing protection  Stay aware of your surroundings and do not operate trimmer when people are nearby  Trimmers can throw sand and gravel at high velocity and cause injury or damage  Training and refresher training will be required each year  qU qU 

Push Mowers  Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection  Stay aware of your surroundings and pay attention to where the discharge shoot is pointed  Always mow with the discharge shoot facing open ground  Objects can be thrown at high velocity, great distances from the discharge shoot  KzUI KzUI

Riding Mowers  Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection  Stay aware of your surroundings and pay attention to where the discharge shoot is pointed  Always mow with the discharge shoot facing open ground  Watch your speed  FGo FGo
