April 27 th, 2011 Period 1

 Ceo Alan Newman and CFO Mark Cohen founded Newmark Productions in  Newmark maintains offices in New York and Los Angeles and currently employs more than 500 people.  Newmark has released 50 feature films and 7 Emmy-winning television programs.

 Six departments provide the foundation for Newmark's award-winning work: Production, Distribution, Marketing/Publicity/Promotions, Television, Merchandising, and Interactive.

 The Production Department is responsible for making the movies-from start to finish.  The movie production process begins with story and script development.  After a script is selected and purchased, a budget is assigned and a production schedule is developed.  A director and cast are then selected and pre- production begins.  After the movie is filmed, it goes into the final stage of post-production, where the director and Newmark agree on a final cut.

 The film is then ready to be distributed.  The Distribution Department books the heaters that will show the film.  As theaters are located all over the world, Newmark has domestic distribution offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta and international offices in London and Buenos Aires to facilitate the distribution of the films.  The Distribution Department also calculate Newmark’s film grosses (money earned on the films).

 The Marketing, Publicity, and Promotion Department work to promote the films. They are responsible for creating the movie trailers (commercials/previews) that play on television and in theaters and the movie posters that appear on billboards or newspapers.  The departments also plan and coordinate movie premieres, create giveaway items, write press releases, coordinate talent appearances on TV talk shows and entertainment news programs, and develop sweepstakes opportunities.

 Newmark also has a strong Television Department that develops programming for network, cable, and syndication.  The department also licenses movies to these TV outlets and does its own marketing and promotions for its current site.

 The Merchandising Department works with various licenses to create products based on Newmark’s film and television properties.  It distributes these products (which can be T- shirts, Halloween costumes, posters, toys, etc.) to retail stores.

 Newmark’s Interactive Department creates and maintains Web sites for current television series and movies.  It also sends s and e-newsletters to fans to promote the films and TV shows,  It maintains an e-commerce site, which sells many of the products developed by the Merchandising Department.
