Howard Terpning Born 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois As a boy, he wanted to be a pilot or an artist Joined the Marine in 1945 at the age of 17. Went to American Academy of Fine Arts He moved to Wisconsin and painted farmers
In 1967, he painted scenes from the Vietnam War On his own, he painted seven days a week, thirteen hours a day Worked as a commercial artist for 25 years, 17 in New York City In 1976, he moved to Tucson to become a Western painter Most of his Western pictures show Native Americans
