The purpose with the programme is to increase the frequecy of employment among refugees and immigrants and thereby: Create better conditions for increased integration Reduce the city councils costs for economic assistance Facilitate in finding the right labour for employers this is carried out by: Identifying branches with recruitment needs Giving participants the necessary vocational/business language Giving participants the necessary knowledge regarding Swedish society and the work climate Tailor-making relevant vocational programmes in partnership with employers Providing support to both the participants and work place during the whole process Following-up, evaluating and developing the service Never giving up

From 22 May 2000 – 31 Dec 2007 more than 1000 persons have got jobs and gone from welfare to supporting themselves This equates to close on 85% of all participants who have finished vocational courses The majority today are still self-sufficient 2006 was the Programme for Employments most successful year ever. 324 persons went from welfare to supporting themselves Results

Profitability People that go from welfare dependency to supporting themselves creates large gains for everyone! For the City this results in per person/per month: 5000 SEK reduced costs for economic assistance 5000 SEK increased tax income = SEK per person/per month Therefore a typical annual result should result in savings/gains: 200 people x SEK = SEK every month The overall costs for the programme are less than SEK per month
