Racism, Xenophobia FRA, EU-MIDIS Report 06 - Minorities as Victims of Crime, November Data collected by the FRA Indicates that on average, minorities are victims of assault or threat more often than the majority population and that only 4 MS collect comprehensive data on hate crime Special Eurobarometer (393) on Discrimination in the EU in 2012, November Discrimination on the grounds of ethnic origin continues regarded as the most widespread form of discrimination in the EU. The Commission will present a report on compliance of MS with the obligation to penalise racist or xenophobic hate speech, by the end of 2013.

Homophobia European Parliament published the study "Towards an EU Roadmap for Equality on Grounds of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity". September 2012 The Commission launched in 2012 infringement proceedings against Malta for failure to implement EU free movement rules the right of same-sex spouses or registered partners to join EU citizens in Malta, resulting in modification of the legislation. Draft Council of Europe recommendation on risk behaviours having an impact on blood donor management. The Commission's intervened to ensure that the draft text would not discriminate donors based on sexual orientation. FRA launched an online EU-wide survey to examine the extent of discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. The survey raised a lot of interest and over persons participated. results expected for beginning 2013.

Rights of the Child Directive 2012/29/EU on victims rights with strong provisions for children, notably in Article 24. clearly states that the child's best interests should be a primary consideration in criminal proceedings On 02 May 2012 the Commission adopted the Communication for a "Strategy for a Better Internet for Children". Empowerment measures and fighting child sexual abuse online (take down, Global Alliance Against Child Sexual Abuse Online, launched 5 December 2012). Trafficking Strategy , adopted in June 2012, puts a special emphasis on the support of child victims of trafficking to strengthen their identification, protection and assistance

7 th Forum on the rights of the child- Supporting child protection systems through the implementation of the EU Agenda on the rights of the child, November 2012 Workshops: Child-friendly Justice, custody, children on the move, violence, disability Conclusions: focus on informing and empowering children themselves, to gather more concrete evidence on which approaches work in order to use limited existing resources more efficiently, to train professionals on rights-based child protection to improve coordination between all actors in child protection systems.

Ongoing EU studies on children: Data on children's involvement in judicial proceedings in EU Croatia Collect data on children in civil, administrative and criminal judicial proceedings towards evidence-based policies and child-friendly justice Legislation, policy and practice on child participation in EU and Croatia M ap national legislation, policy and practice relating to UN CRC Article 12, and to showcase best practice for EU27. The study will also look at what EU institutions do in terms of child participation and map best practice 2012 Report on the application of the charter Drafting under way, published before summer
