INTERACTIVE GAMES TO HELP PREVENT CHILDHOOD OBESITY

obesity o·be·si·ty (ō-bē'sĭ-tē) n. A person has traditionally been considered to be obese if they are more than 20 percent over their ideal weight. That ideal weight must take into account the person's height, age, sex, and build.

Childhood Obesity 10% of 2-5 year olds are overweight/obese.  35% come from low-income families In Austin 28% of kindergarteners are obese.

The low socioeconomic status a direct correlation with childhood obesity.

So Does Ethnicity Obese Latino Boys Ages 6-11 Obese African American Girls Ages %40.1% African Americans & Hispanics children have a higher obesity risk than their white peers.

The City of Manor Manor, Texas is located just Northeast of the Austin city limits. Current population 3,200. Businesses in the area, Applied Materials and Samsung.

Manor Independent School District Many of the students live within the city limits of Austin. Manor School District is a very diverse community comprised of 12 schools  7 of them being elementary schools.

Manor ISD Elementary Schools Population Of the 3,393 students enrolled in the elementary schools, 71.4% (2,423) are considered economically disadvantaged.
