Find and Link to an Article in a Subscription Database Using EBSCO A-to-Z and your finalsite Faculty Portal

Find and Link to an article in a subscription database Stitt Library has full-text access to hundreds of journals through its subscription databases. Linking to these articles from your course portal is an easy way to provide readings to your class and will never be in violation of copyright.

Locate your citation: Rigby, Cynthia L. “’Communicate life’: Elisabeth Moltmann-Wendel imagines biblical models for women." Theology Today 69, no. 2 (July 1, 2012):

Go to the “Journals” tab and click on EBSCO A-to-Z

Search for the journal title from your citation.

Click on a database title that includes the year from your citation.

Navigate to the year, volume, and number of the article in your citation.

Select the title of the article to which you want to link.

Each article has a summary page Click here to view the persistent link and copy it. This link will take students from your class portal back to this page. Click here for full-text access to the article.

Logon to the portal and navigate to the course page you want to update Click “Resources” to add your resource to the course page.

Create a new folder or add a resource to an existing folder. (2) Select “new resource” to add your linked article to the folder you just created, or to an existing folder. (1) Select “New Folder” to create a folder for your resource You must make a folder before adding a resource!

Using the resource editor, paste in the permalink you copied for the article On the “Link” tab, select “External web link” and paste the persistent link you copied from the database into the External URL box. Pick a folder for your linked resource, give it a title, and add any relevant notes.

Add link prefix: Add the prefix to the beginning of your permalink: ?url= After you have added the prefix, hit “Save Resource.”

Notes: You will not need to input separate URLs for on- and off-campus access, using the URL with the EZproxy prefix will take students to the right resource no matter where they are. Use this same system to create links for other subscription-based Stitt Library resources including Credo, Oxford Biblical Studies Online, and our subscription e-journals.

What will your students see? If your students are on-campus, the link will go directly to the resource. If they are off campus, they will see this login-screen where they can enter in the same username (Firstname.Lastname) and password that they use for their Seminary e- mail address to access the resource:

What will your students see?
