3 Jefferson Memorial ● The Jefferson Memorial is a memorial dedicated to the 3 rd president, Thomas Jefferson. ● Construction was completed in ● One of the most important of the American founding fathers.

4 Washington Monument ● The Washington Monument was built in honor of George Washington, the U.S. first president. ● The Monument was completed in 1885.

5 Vietnam Wall ● The Vietnam Wall is a memorial dedicated to the Veterans who died in the Vietnam War. ● The walls seem to stretch into the distance directing us towards the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

6 Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception ● The Basilica is the largest Roman Catholic Church in the United States and North America. ● This church is one of the 10 largest churches in the world.

7 Arlington National Cemetery ● Six hundred twenty four acres of land bury the dead of the Nation’s conflicts beginning with the American Civil War as well as those who served other wars or who have contributed to our country.

8 Holocaust Museum ● The Holocaust Museum began as an idea in 1978, which transformed as a reality and has become an internationally recognized institution. ● Nearly 2 million people visit this museum every year.

9 Mount Vernon ● Mount Vernon overlooks the Potomac River. ● The mansion is 10 times the size of the average home in Colonial Virginia.

10 World War II ● This memorial honors 16 million men who fought in WWII were from Louisiana. ● More than 400,000 men died during that war.

11 Mount St. Mary ● Mount Saint Mary’s is located on a beautiful 80 acre campus. ● It is a Catholic University. ● Students of all faiths and beliefs are welcome to this school.
