The Greenlining Coalition came into formal existence in 1979 with members from the African-American, Asian-American and Latino communities coming together to combat discrimination in employment, lending and services by financial institutions and regulated utilities in California. Today, the coalition tackles issues in diverse policy areas, all aimed to empower communities of color through systematic changes to asset building, improved health, wealth creation, political empowerment, and poverty alleviation. HISTORY The Greenlining Institute

The Greenlining Institute’s mission is to empower communities of color and other disadvantaged groups through multi-ethnic economic and leadership development, civil rights and anti- redlining activities. MISSION STATEMENT The Greenlining Institute

Thinking And Doing Greenlining promotes a dual policy approach as a “think and do tank.” We develop intellectual capital through academic policy research along with active community engagement and advocacy.
