Vacuum - CONTROL SYSTEM 29 June 2011

Agenda MSRC design, first ideas and plans – Antonio quiet cooling fans test – Irene some scada SW review - Martin status of design - LAL team AOB

MSRC choice MSRC configuration chosen (except showstopper) in particular for shortening the time schedule (2014 start of commissioning) Towers remain as they are with some change of pumps on lower part (links) that can be integrated in the ‘tower’ or not if more convenient + 5 additional small chambers for optical benches (2 at end towers, 1 in central hall, 1 in det lab, 1 in Inj lab) Normally these chambers will be ‘glass separated’ at least during the first commissioning period, hence at ‘rough vacuum’. But we need to have the possibility to connect them and have a good vacuum inside, so it appears convenient to prepare the vacuum system (chamber design, control system) for the ‘final’ configuration

First cryotrap being ordered Some electronics included in the procurement, to be integrated in the cryotrap ‘control rack’. Wanted characteristics of sensors and level controller to be checked. After your ok we shall transmit it to Nikhef team. Then we will look at the offered items and discuss with the company. Item quantit y description Pc11Pressure of cryostat, 4-20mA, TBC Pc21Pressure of LN2 storage tank, 4-20mA T1-T818 pt100 temp sensors already converted to 4-20mA, TBC Vcryo1 %opening of the refill valve, directly acquired by the valve itself (Normally AI 4-20mA). Note: not the output signal transmitted by the PID regulator but the real valve status, for redundancy. Normally Closed, TBC CL22 Input signal to PID regulator LN2 level inside cryostat (capacitive sensor), retransmitted by PID regulator or directly by its controller (rs232 or better I/O standard), TBC CL1, TL14 LN2 level inside cryostat and storage tank (diff pressure sensors), normally AI 4-20mA A1-A44Alarms of LN2 system, DI, relays status to be acquired Spares4Additional DO, relays Spares8Additional AI, 4-20mA or 0-10V Spares8Additional DI, relays Spares1Additional rs232 device TBD

REFERENCE IDEA FOR CENTRAL RACKS POSITION vs ENV. NOISE MITIGATION: RACKS NOT DISPLACED BUT ‘ISOLATED’ SEISMIC MITIGATION WITH HOLDING STRUCTURE FIXED IN THE CONCRETE WALL (for instance 2 IPE 80mm + 1 base plate or a pillar hanging the rack from the top). Technical drawing to be prepared upon agreement

Next weeks activity on vacuum Interacts with other subsystems (OSD, DET, INJ, PAY, SAT...) in order to complete the ‘conceptual’ design of the central area vacuum system. For instance to establish the link size, position and number of pumps... A ‘general’ vacuum meeting to discuss the proposed design proposed for the week Jul

Some questions about the ‘CTRL SYS’ we should discuss with ‘impacting’ subsystems New racks position DC supplies position Dedicated network? Need extra installation? Extra cable trays...? (normally HW aspects at first...)

Next discussion Next CTRL SYS meeting in September? General plan is being updated on MSRC, then we shall discuss manpower, time schedule of Control System task An updated version of the document of vacuum equipment to be circulated in july, after first OSD answers A more general Vacuum meeting for the Virgo week of 18-20July, please join
