1 AdV Vacuum system changes, 23Feb2011 Central area vacuum equipment SVC 2 (mini) towers 1 new HV tower (Inj) DT,IB from HV->UHV towers (with additional turbo/scroll and IVC Ion, tbc) 4 smaller chambers (pickoffs) with glass separations and in static vacuum (only rough pump, a few valvs and gauges) 2 Ion traps MSRC 4 smaller chambers (pickoffs) with glass separations and in static vacuum (only rough pump, a few valves and gauges) 1 cold pump For both options: _ No more TSP pump directly on towers, moved on cryotraps systems _ ions on links to be used during data taking (new station or inside tower racks) _ two large new turbos on links to be used during commissioning (new station or inside tower racks) _ 4 cryotraps (4 additional control stations) _ 2 simplified tube stations at 300N and 300W (two additional small stations) _ centralized scrolls (one additional small station) _ some additional gauge on towers (normally 1 pirani) and tubes (ITR100 replaced) _ seismic/acoustic/EM emissions to be reduced= racks position / supporting to be studied, fans mitigation, power supplies displacement...

3 Ions, (preliminary) Could be grouped near IB, DT, MC, Inputs and/or distributed on the links. 2 Ion pumps, 1 controller, for instance Varian starcell 500 + DUAL controller: RS232 RS422 RS485 EThERNET Manual valve with position indicator 2 gauges, (PI+PE) to be purchased, normally same to the ones we have, but not necessarily manual valve with position indicator Tower links PI PE

Cryogenic controls, pid for level control and external tank Electronics driver to be read (tbc) by remote, normally with a few low level output or rs232 or other Automatic proportional valve, with position indication (profibus...) Automatic valve to be linked to the temp control existing large valve, to be linked to the temp control Level 1 External Tank LN2 Electronics driver to be read by remote, normally with a few low level output or rs232 or other Level 2 PID PID level regulator to be read by remote, normally with a few low level output or rs232 or other. Could retransmit the level and valve status Temperature Some temp readouts to be acquired. The controller will have relays to close also valves in case of high temp alarms Pressure 1 Pressure 2 Pressure signals (2), normally 4-20mA, to be recorded Comments: add readouts of LN2 tanks pressures

9 Double oring on bottom flanges. From the point of view of control system, it is one additional gauge per tower (pirani) PI CF16, to be metal sealed in case of helicofles Double orings on end tower viewports too

10 300m N and W, preliminary 2 TSP pumps, 2 controllers. Manual valve with position indicator, existing 2 gauges, (PI+PE) to be purchased, normally same to the ones we have, but not necessarily manual valve with position indicator 3km tube, 300m from input PE PI

11 TSP rearrangement TSP WE -> WE trap (1 TSP on end trap) TSP NE as above TSP NI, SR -> NI trap (2 TSPs on input traps) TSP WI, PR as above TSP BS = spare? TSP 300m N/W, new ones with enlarged surface/capacity and suitable size to be installed below the tube, or NEG, as a test

12 Turbo-booster at the existing tube stations 0m, 600m,...??? (preliminary) Smaller turbo, to be purchased, normally with controller on board, rs232 necessary to visualize parameters Existing turbo pumping group V21, V22, P21, P22, G21, G22 To the scroll 3km tube station 0, 600,... PI

13 Other changes (preliminary): Link valves remote operation more reliable Change ITR100BAG gauges with Varian UHV24 at tube stations Monitor compressed air level at tube stations (not just an alarm) Turbo installed also at 0m N and 0m W?

14 NEW VACUUM RACKS POSITION? Intermediate boxes, VALVES boxes, Cryotrap racks ON THE FLOOR Cables lenght: 30m seems enough Other: leave room to put towers rings Portable console to work close to towers?
