What is NetAid NetAid is a non-profit organization that educates, inspires and empowers young people to fight global poverty 1.2 billion people live on less than a dollar per day. About 3 billion people -- one out of every two human beings -- live on less than $2 per day. An estimated 246 million children are engaged in child labor. Nearly 70% of these children work in hazardous conditions. More than 115 million children ages 6 to 12 are not enrolled in school.

What we do We raise awareness and provide take action opportunities Our audience: youth (middle school – young professionals). However, several of our initiatives target kids as young as 7 years old. We connect our audiences with international development, in ways that make issues salient and meaningful, and provide concrete ways to take action. We prepare American youth for participation and responsible action in increasingly interdependent world.

Real stories from India to U.S. classrooms

High School Students and Blogs Dec30/DK: hey guys: i am sure all of you have heard about the tragedy in parts of Asia and Africa. I am looking for things to do to help out. Does anyone have any ideas? Dec31/LG (in response): Hey DK! I have heard on the news that donating money rather than items is more helpful. I am currently selling calendars to raise money and help inform people. I would love to send you a complementary one… If you could perhaps help sell some it would be more money we could give. Please either me your home address or post it on my blog. –LG

(more blog posts) Jan5/JG: The tsunami that happened in Africa and Asia was terrible-- that’s why I decided to give information to the students in my school and also the teachers were willing to [support] donations and… with the help of my friends I was able to do it in every class in the school. Jan7/MW: On Thursday my school had a dress down day (I go to a catholic school and we hafta wear uniforms) and kids had to pay a minimum of $2 to dress down. Parents were also encouraged to donate. In one morning we raised $4500 through the dress down day. It was awesome! A couple local TV stations and newspapers also came to cover the event. It was soo exciting! and it all came out of just a couple of kids coming to school on monday and saying they wanted to make a difference in the lives of the tsunami victims. it was totally amazing!
