Childhood/Early life He was 14 years old when he got his first job as a seaman. He always wanted to work on board a ship.

Timeline In 1952 Kurt Carlsen was born in Denmark. In 1965 Kurt Carlsen got his job (witch is also his career). In 1983 he was handed over the command of his first ship(Also in 1983 Carlsen became world-famous). In 1989 Carlsen died Oct. 7 th.

Contributions The destroyer would be hand to rescue Kurt Carlsen and the world would admire what great seamanship Carlsen had.

Accomplishments At the age of 32 he was handed over the command of his first ship. From that day on he did his service for the Danish- American Company Isbrandtsen. Henrik Kurt Carlsen was a sea captain who became world-famous in January when he stayed on his sinking frighter The Flying Enterprise, for 13 days.
