Spring 2013 Entry-level and Post-Prof.

Fall 2012 Entry-level Students

What worked well (SP 2013)? I didn't use it for blog entries because it it harder to type on. Good for use in the practicum. It was great to be able to go on trunk and have the lecture readings, powerpoint available. I think if we had somewort of MS word or other app to save my stuff. MS word or something similar would be great! I did use google doc. The app "inkflow " and "PDF note " really help me to take note in the place and organize articles I need in the practicum it also helps when I need to show clients pictures of anatomy and assistive device. I love having it and use it to read for other classes... Easy to take notes which are then up-loaded to my laptop. / Great reference point. / Easy to 'carry' class readings and materials.

What could be improved (Fall 2012) Most practicum sites do not have wifi, so could not use the iPad to surf the web or look for articles, etc. Mostly have to rely on apps that work without an internet connection. Also, limited knowledge about the apps available, restricted the use of the iPad. More info on good apps to use adding MS word or more apps to take notes and to be able to save document on ipad. I had hard time learnign drop box. Not really. What need to be improved in this class is not about iPad. It's not practical to carry around on site. More exploration of apps that can be used with clients might be interesting.

Please record any other thoughts on the experience you wish to share. Text Response In addition to using the iPad for my Practicum class, I was able to use it for every other class that I was taking this semester as well and that was extremely helpful! It is much more lightweight than my laptop, so I was more likely to bring it to class to use, which was also very helpful! I only used it for real time web searches during practicum seminar. The video function was useful for reflective practice in another course I was taking. Dragon Speak did not work for me because you need internet access in order to dictate. I did like writing in the Notepad during real time at team meetings or if I was early for my practicum. It was a great real way time to take notes

iPad for use in the course is effective? (Spring 2013)

iPad beneficial for learning material (Spring 2013)?

Has your use of iPad for learning improved (Spring 2013)?

Excited to take another class using an iPad (Spring 2013)?

Applications used by students (Fall 2012) Text Response Notes, Safari, iHighlight, QuickOffice Pro, Dropbox None Notepad safari Dragon Speak, Notepad, and Google.

Applications used by students (Spring 2013) The Khan Academy app is great for reviewing middle and high school math concepts (I use it while tutoring a middle school student). Adobe Reader is great for annotating slides, especially if you were to buy a stylus. "Ink flow" and "PDF note" are two free app that could be used instead of purchasing other apps iTune U / Evernote / penultimate / notetaker / sound note / notespark / plain text / Goodreader and evernote.
