Rules/Law Freedom inside the town/walls Under law of no lord unless in a castle
Danger/Hazards Houses close together -> Fire; roofs and walls flammable Crime – Very high, uncontrolled unless caught Disease – Epidemic; usually seen as a punishment
Landscape Usually on flat ground Build also on high grounds Sometimes built near a castle; Defense
Pollution Water – Full of mineral, brown to black Sewage dumped in streets; sickness Smoke from fires Dead bodies
Groups Rank Bailiff- churchmen and officers Craftsmen- Blacksmiths Servants- To the king and bailiffs Serfs/Peasants- slaves and workers
