What are A.T.C.’s? Miniature works of art! 2.5"x3.5“ trading cards (size of a baseball card) Meant to be TRADED and not sold. Includes information such as name, contact information, title of the ATC on the back THAT’s IT!

Possible Materials Collage (drawn, cut and paste etc) Paint (watercolor, tempera, print making, oil pastel) Drawing (pencil, pens, charcoal, chalk etc) Computer Graphics Photos Text/written word Found objects/materials not usually used in art Ribbons, thread & needlepoint, foil, tape, wrapping paper, newspaper, beads etc

*Shape An element of art; area closed off by a line

Geometric Shape: shapes made using math formulas (circle, square, triangle etc)

Organic Shape: natural shapes; rounded and soft

Collage: Artwork that uses mostly flat or drawn materials that are cut and glued together to create a composition

Series: Several works of art that have visual and/or idea similarities

ATC Holders can be art too! You can store your own cards & traded cards When your collection is complete at the end, we can make containers for them.

What you will do: You will turn in an art card when assigned. You can use class time on Fridays (or if you finish something early during the week) or work from home. Cards are due MONDAYS. If you do not turn in an art card on that day, you will receive 50% credit for any late cards (except for this first one). YOU CAN DO MORE FOR EXTRA CREDIT! –5 extra=1 free bathroom pass and 10% extra credit points to be added to any assignment –10 extra=1 free bathroom pass AND 20% extra credit points to be added to any assignment Most of your ATC’s will be your own expressions, but some will have specific instructions.

Your first art card Create an ATC that represents you as an individual (no logos or symbols. These do not represent an individual) Use the samples given for inspiration You are allowed to use –magazines for words, images –Color paper –Markers –Scissors/glue DUE WEDNESDAY 9/29 (3 full class periods to work)
