Social Care Success Ltd QCF and Team Teach Making the most of Team Teach courses Liz Bailey & Sandie McMurray

Social Care Success Ltd Training Providers offering accredited learning & development opportunities Approved by Edexcel to offer QCF qualifications

Purpose of this workshop Introduction to the concept of providing formal feedback to validate learning outcomes for specific topics from the Team Teach Programme.

Links to Accredited Qualifications The majority of the learners you train will be required to hold an accredited qualification for their normal work role, such as:

Accredited Qualifications Children’s Residential Workers & Managers: Level 3 and Level 5 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (QCF) School Support Staff: Awards, Certificates (Level 2 & 3) & Diploma’s (Level 3) Foster Carers : The Training, Support and Development (TSD) Standards for Foster Carers

QCF = Qualifications & Credit Framework The Qualifications and Credit Framework is a way of recognising achievement through the award of credits for the achievement of units and qualifications This provides flexible ways to get a qualification. Each unit has a credit value which tells you how many credits are awarded when a unit is completed. The credit value also gives an indication of how long it will normally take you to prepare for a unit or qualification. One credit will usually take you 10 hours of learning. Units build up to qualifications. There are three different types of qualification in the QCF: Award, Certificate and Diploma. You can achieve an Award with 1 to 12 credits; for a Certificate you will need 13 – 36 credits and for a Diploma you will need at least 37 credits. If a qualification includes a unit that you have already been awarded, you can use the unit you have already taken towards that qualification.

Added Value The concept is that Team Teach Tutors can add value to the TT Programme by giving feedback that will provide a testimony, which can be cross referenced to specific Units in QCF qualifications.

Unit 53: PROMOTE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR Learning OutcomesAssessment Criteria 1. Understand how legislation, frameworks, codes of practice and policies relate to positive behaviour support explain how legislation, frameworks, codes of practice & policies relating to positive behaviour support are applied to own working practice define what is meant by restrictive interventions explain when restrictive interventions may & may not be used explain who needs to be informed of any incidents where restrictive interventions have been used explain why the least restrictive interventions should always be used when dealing with incidents & challenging behaviour describe safeguards that must be on place if restrictive physical interventions are used

Activity Consider the Learning Outcome you have been allocated and the assessment criteria for it.  Identify which topic(s), from the Team Teach programme you deliver, will probably incorporate aspects of these individual assessment criteria
