Biocontrol

Control of pests 1- Natural control Natural enemies Temperature, moisture and winds. Intraspeceific competitions. Nutrition ( quantity and quality)

2- Applied control Cultural control ( Irrigation, crop free period, crop rotation, planting and harvesting dates, fertilization, weed control, destruction of crop residues). Physical and mechanical control ( hand picking, barriers, sound, light traps, temperature). Biological control (predation, parasitism)

Legal control Chemical control( fungicides, insecticides. Herbicides, nematocides, rodenticides, molluscicides)

Mode of action of insecticides Physical poisons ( prevent oxygen or cuticle damage) Protoplasmic poisons ( damage of epithelial cells in insects) metabolic inhibitors :- - Respiratory poisons ( hydrogen cyanide) - Inhibitors ( function of oxidase enzymes) - Inhibitors of carbohydrate metabolism ( sodium fluracetate and sodium flouride)

Nreve poison ( cholinestrase inhibitors, nerve receptor) Repellant
