Reading Assessments MAP testing STAR test – for Accelerated Reader levels (information in packet) Running Records – reading level AIMS Web Fluency test Helps to determine students independent and instructional reading level These assessments help to give me information about your child as a reader. They help me to make some decisions about grouping, assessment, and instructional activities. I also conference with students to assess them informally.

AT LA Curriculum - Writing Lucy Calkins Units of Study College of William and Mary mini-lessons Students will keep a writing journal/binder for responses to prompts and narrative, expository, and opinion writing. Students will use a variety of technology to improve their spelling, word processing, and to help complete quality final writing products. Writing will be taught as a process.

Homework / Grades Homework is given nightly, Monday-Thursday Reading should be done each night (15-30 minutes) Logs are due on Friday Final Trimester Grades  20% Participation (whole class activities, discussion rubrics, homework)  20% Tests/Quizzes  30% Comprehension  30% Word Work  Writing – graded as S,N,U -- writing is a process

Red Hot Reading Club / Reading Contest Weekly Logs – due every Friday  Completed and turned in weekly  No missing logs Read a minimum of 50 days this trimester 1,000 pages in 1 st Trimester for AT ELA AR Requirement – 5 passed tests Reach individual goal Turn in book slip for each completed book to help your team!

Math Curriculum/Resources Envision Math Text (reference) Hands On Equations – CCSS Authentic Tasks Place Value Multiplication and Division Geometry Fractions and Decimals Problem Solving School Store  Data, Number Theory, Multiplication, Division

Math Stations Daily Stations done to meet the individual needs of our 4 th grade math students. Based on a common, grade-level math assessment (per topic), we will determine which students are in need of extra math interventions Students will work with a teacher during the last 20 minutes of math while 4 th grade students in other classrooms work on Math Stations Stations  Math Journals  Hands On Algebra  Multiplication/Division Facts  IXL and other Technology

Multiplication and Division Timed test taken weekly Multiplication 2-12, All Facts Division 2-12, All Facts 30 problems in 1 ½ minutes  2 seconds to retrieve the fact and 1 second to record Students move through the tests at their own pace Mastery of facts help with longer computations and other math topics Practice nightly!

Homework / Grades Given most nights (unless a topic is not completed) except Friday Fact Flashcards can be done nightly Final Grade for Trimester  20% homework (completion, corrected )  20% tasks (whole class, small group, individual)  25% formative assessment (quizzes, exit slips, etc.)  35% summative assessment (tests)
