OVERVIEW OF THIS SEMINAR 1.Discussion of Federalism and Decentralization as factors contributing to destabilizing communities. 2.The importance of Citizen education and participation in developing community support for public policy decisions. 3.When ethics and morals becomes the integrity challenges of elected leaders.

What makes a good leader To challenge to be independent in thought and action Leadership is not a moral concept, leaders have a good, and a bad side. This can be the challenge of leadership moving from trickle- down economics to sustainable sustainability. Time tested, reality of defining problems and solutions.

Courage- To challenge, to be independent in thought and action Truthfulness- Accepting the truth of others. Refusing to deny the observable truth. The evidence of right and wrong applying it in decisions. Trust- The establishment of Courage and Truth which has repeatedly impacted the disparity within the populace with proven outcomes and truth. A leader has Followers who acknowledge the leadership Do I have what it takes to be a leader?

ETHICS Code of conduct with high standards of morality, integrity and principals practiced, professionally and personally. Morals- the connect of right verse wrong, refusing to compromise when right is the obvious choice. Faithfulness to high moral standards. Empathy and compassion is important in leaders, but must be balanced with truth reflective of ones honesty. The ability to identify with the plight of others. Emotional intelligence is important to political leadership. The challenges is often how to sustain it through fluctuating change. Self awareness is paramount as the stabilizer of this character trait. To their own self be true. EMPATHY As a leader I should practice Consciousness of personal and professional roles What steps do I take to improve my character

Who bond into a common association of a cause identified with the Leader. Followers who can articulate a success of the leader. Have confidence of proven knowledge and speaking the truth Followers connected in community can change the Public Policy affecting their lives. Citizen participation should be a desirable component of public decision making. WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME? Real Leaders Have Followers Leaders and Followers have a commonality of decisions

Citizen engagement identify as a grassroots democratic process which builds trust in public policy decision making.

Conscious Leadership – Transformation Leader Expectations of Leadership Personal accountability, people first, reality of defining problems, civic engagement of followers Human DNA Have the gift of right or wrong (decision making) Personal Leadership consciousness of ability to manage their own life Managing Elements Increasing the ability and desire to take charge in agendas and decisions in a liner path to empowerment of followers Team Building Professional administrative staff with vision and organization’s mission/strategic plan empowered with authentic engagement of leadership for best practices outcomes A team built on reliability
