5 Our Roots and Vision Habitat Texas Leadership & Green Building Conference Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in. Isaiah 58:12 (NRSV)

6 Our Roots and Vision Habitat Texas Leadership & Green Building Conference See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away. Revelation 21:3-4 (NRSV)

7 Our Roots and Vision Habitat Texas Leadership & Green Building Conference We want to meet human need in all its grossness and all its dimensions, and not set something up for a few elect, a spiritual elite Clarence Jordan, on the establishment of the Fund for Humanity

8 Our Roots and Vision Habitat Texas Leadership & Green Building Conference Dreaming, making plans, struggling to know God’s will for the idea of Habitat for Humanity… the possibility of eventually building one hundred thousand houses to house a million people… Sam Emerick, first board chair at the founding of HFHI

Why Have a Strategic Plan? 11

12 Why Have a Strategic Plan Habitat Texas Leadership & Green Building Conference A world where everyone has a decent place to live. How will we get there?

13 A Global Prayer Habitat for Humanity is a development organization and also a Christian ministry. Stakeholders around the world provided input into Habitat’s strategic plan. They were also enlisted in listening to God for guidance. The Habitat world responded, and a simple global prayer emerged. God, teach us humility so that we may…  …listen,  …confess and forgive,  …serve in relationship with the poor,  …persevere in our mission,  …unify as one body with many diverse parts,  …and act with courage and boldness. Reflects input gathered 11/1/2011-5/10/2012

Why would my affiliate want to align with the Plan? 25

26 Why is alignment important? By aligning with one global strategic plan, we strengthen our ability to deepen our collective impact to exponentially serve more families while recognizing the diverse contexts in which we work.

Through alignment, we become a unified global family with local relevance 27 Why is alignment important? The Strategic Plan* serves as a common framework to guide our Habitat family worldwide * Also referred to as the “global strategic plan.”

HFHI Global Strategic Initiatives HFHI Division/ Area Implementation Plans HFHI has established catalytic strategic initiatives (Growth, HSS, Impact) to help define the global strategic plan and support you to achieve the Strategic Plan goals and objectives. All HFHI divisions (including Areas) will use the situation analysis to define, prioritize and budget for their implementation plan with division approaches & objectives (both long- term and annual) that contribute to implementing the global strategic plan. NO, Affiliate & SSO Strategic/ Operation Plans National Organizations, Affiliates and State Support Organizations will use their situation analysis to align their approaches and targets with the framework of the global strategic plan. Strategic Plan Implementation Implementing the Plan in 3 ways:
