page 3 International Recovey Platform Capacity Building for WHAT: The strategic goals of the capacity building cluster during are: Contributing to the enhancement of disaster risk management and post-disaster recovery Supporting the increasing of disaster-prone-nations self reliance Supporting the development of the IASC Cluster Working Group on Early Recovery The strategy focuses on building and strengthening the capacities of those local, national, regional and international actors that are mainly involved in post-natural disaster recovery efforts.

page 4 International Recovey Platform Training activities and related knowledge & information management tools will be addressing the following target groups: IRP member agencies staff and early recovery/recovery experts, in order to develop common skills, to ensure information and knowledge sharing and to facilitate networking and coordination; Trainers and professionals of relevant training institutions, in order to facilitate the development, dissemination and sharing of disaster- management know-how; Local and National authorities, institutions and socio-economic actors, in order to facilitate their collaboration and coordination and to enable them to establish permanent prevention, preparedness and response mechanisms and frameworks. Training methodology: blended activities including distance learning and face-to-face activities at the ILO International Training Centre Organized and coordinated by the ILO/ITC 1. Linking local sustainable development to risk-sensitive post disaster recovery 3. Around 40 participants from Central American countries, amongst the Spanish speaking ones on the Caribbean coast (tentatively Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Republica Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador) Training Strategy at the Local Level 4. Trainers: ILO/ITC, disaster management specialists, universities and regional training institutions (to be defined), recovery specialists (IRP member agencies). On the basis of the ongoing inventory of specialized institutions.
